Traditionally making ID cards for the corporate market has been a process of finding a company that will manufacture cards in small volumes at a price that it is acceptable. Getting the required data over to the manufacturer has historically been through either a CD or via FTP download, ensuring the data is formatted in a way that the manufacturer can deal with it.
This has now been transformed to a point where the customer is back in control of the process, and the only thing they need is an internet connection.
Identity2u allows the customer to choose from a range of templates offered, or for a small fee customers can have custom designs prepared. The customer then starts entering the details - all over a secure HTTPS connection.
Having previewed each card on screen the customer can then place an order and pay via credit card. The cards will then be despatched the next working day.
The price to print a single ID card is as little as £1.99.
The costs of purchasing a card printer and finding the time to format data correctly have now been removed.
